Dear Friends, Family,
and Faithful Supporters;
“Summer” is now behind us. Of course here in Chad our weather is much like perpetual summer, but for
those of us involved in education “summer” indicates a much needed break form the norm. Last year
finished with our annual year end concert and graduation ceremony. We had the privilege again of
graduating one of our students from the elementary school level. Our prayer is that we have well prepared
our Palmview students for future academic training but above all that we have well prepared them for the
spiritual battles they will encounter in their lives.
May was a difficult month for our family. Near the beginning of the month our house helper lost one of
his children. The end of May brought many more goodbyes as many of our school families returned to their
countries of origin and several of our co-workers ended their time of ministry here. The month of May was
also filled with the busyness of planning and preparing for the year end program, the preparing of report
cards and the creating of a Palmview year book. Once again our mission facilities were very quiet for the
summer months with only our family being here for most of the time. Though we were left with many
projects including the management of staff and schedules for three vacant mission properties; we are
thankful that we managed to find some time to enjoy a few good family times during the break.
We thank God for the arrival of a new generator that Paul installed. Over the summer Paul oversaw the
reconstruction projects to prepare housing for some of our returning missionary families and one that had
caught fire from a kerosene refrigerator. This involved much travel and great patience when dealing with
workers. We thank God for safety as he weekly traveled some 400km of road under construction. His next
main project will be completely rewireing the Print Shop and its many
machines. He also has many smaller repair and maintenance projects yet to care for before some of our co-
workers return in late September. Pray for wisdom and safety in his work.

With much planning and preparing
behind me now, we have begun the new academic year. Our school is much smaller this year with only four
students in four grades. I am the only school staff member for this year which means I am responsible for
teaching all subjects in all grades. This I am sure will bring some challenges even with our small number of
students. Pray that I will be well prepared to meet these challenges through out this new school year.
Stephen completed his grade 9 year with NorthStar Academy, an Internet school. While the year
brought with it many challenges of downed phone lines and interrupted Internet service, he was able to
complete the year well. He eagerly looks forward to the new academic year. Stephen had the opportunity
this year to help out in the printshop here at Koutou giving some further computer instruction to one of the
Chadian workers. He has also given much time to helping solve and resolve computer difficulties for many
of the missionaries here on the field. Daniel is beginning grade 8 at Palmview. He will also do one course
via the internet this year as a test case for his upcoming highschool. He enjoyed the past year, especially the
time he had with friends.
Jessica moves into grade 6 at Palmview. She contimues to struggle with her school work. Pray for both
Daniel and Jessica as they will miss friends who’ve returned to their homelands. Pray also for the needed
finances to cover the cost of our children’s education for the next academic year. Over the summer our
children have spent much time working and playing together and rediscovering the joy of having brothers
and sisters.
Thank you to you who pray for us and support us so faithfully. It is only as you up hold us in prayer that
we have the strength to continue in the work the Lord has called us to, here in Chad. Pray for each of us
that we are a living example of Christ’s love to the many Chadians and expatriates that we have contact with
from week to week.
Your faithful servants in Chad,
