Praise the Lord!
The year began in Chad with some 80,000 decisions for Christ. Numerous were in
muslim areas of the country. There were many lay workers trained to help these
converts grow in their new found faith. However there still remains a need for
over 1000 workers in these areas! PRAY for this immediate need as the current bible
school system is only able to graduate 200 couples every 4 yrs! Charlie, the
missionary that oversees these bible schools, is currently burdened with much of the
maintenance requirements of the missionaries and has undergone much mechanical
difficulties himself recently. After taking his 4wd in for an overheating problem
(not in Chad surely!) he returned only to find his motor completely dismantled!
Pray for our quick and timely arrival to help the gospel go forth by alleviating the
missionaries of many of these burdening tasks. Thank-you too for the many who prayed
for the recent unrest in Chad. Things seem somewhat better now but please continue to
pray for peace and protection for both local Christians and missionaries.
School out Already!
Yes the end is upon us! Our year ends with a French missions conference April 23,
24th. We will be taking full participation. Our early departure has been largely due
to my previous base of French from Chad and Kathy's amazing ability to pick up the
language. Stephen continues to excel in the language, being courageous enough to pray
in French in his Sunday school class the last few weeks. Though finding it funny to
speak to mom and dad in French, Daniel and Jessica understand well and converse well
with their playmates.
Even the stones will cry out!! Luke 19:40
During this year we have seen the Lord provide is some amazing ways. When purchasing
some parts for the 4wd, I began relating our calling to the UAP salesman. He was so
touched that he has supplied us with parts at cost. When needing a special tool worth
over $100, I stopped by a local machine shop that I found by driving around town, and
was lent the tool without even as much as a deposit (twice). After ordering a
driveshaft over the phone from Utah and explaining why we needed a good quality one
(mission work in Africa), and what church we were with the salesman, though Morman,
gave me a substantial break on the part. We are convinced of the Lord’s calling!
Though we have had difficulty raising support through churches, God has shown us that
He owns the cattle on a thousand hills and is not limited to our finite ways. P.T.L.
What to next?
Immunizations have begun, and we are learning an new meaning to hole-y. We have
already begun packing some things. We will be taking a 3 day excursion to P.E.I.
amid packing, a place Kathy (and now Stephen) have dreamed of visiting. (Anne’s land)
Hopefully it will provide some refreshment before the mad dash of packing the container
for shipping to Chad. Upon arriving in Ontario we have a mission’s conference until
May 11th. after which we will be staying in London with mom & dad Weber while we pack
and welcome any help given. Kathy’s brother is getting married June 20th but we would
welcome any other opportunity to share of our ministry. Pray for the quick return of
our Visas, to be ordered the beginning of June. We have tickets tentatively reserved
for departure from Toronto international airport July 1st at 6:45 p.m. followed by the red-eye out of Paris to arrive in Chad at 4 am July 3rd. Pray for God’s continued
provision.
